Custom pillow insert sourcing begins with the decorative cover the insert must fit. The nominal size on a listing does not describe fullness, corner shape or the way the completed pillow will look. Approve the insert and cover together rather than treating them as unrelated items.
Measure the finished cover
Record the cover’s usable internal dimensions and closure type. Check seam allowances and whether the design has a gusset or unusual shape. A flat square cover and a boxed cushion need different insert profiles.
Do not apply a universal rule that every insert should be a fixed amount larger than its cover. The appropriate relationship depends on the filling, shell and desired appearance. Compare samples instead of forcing an oversized insert through a small zipper opening.
Specify the filling
Identify the filling material and construction, including whether it is loose fibre, shredded material, solid foam or a blend. If fill weight is used, state the finished size it applies to. Weight alone does not define loft or feel across different materials.
Ask how the filling is distributed and whether the insert can be adjusted. Do not open a sealed shell unless the design explicitly permits it.
Inspect the shell and corners
Specify shell fabric, seam construction and closure details. Check the completed insert for uneven filling, poorly formed corners or excess tension when placed inside the decorative cover. Photograph it from the front and side in the intended cover.
For unusual shapes, use a labelled drawing and confirm which dimensions will be inspected. A supplier needs more than the longest external measurement to reproduce a shaped insert consistently.
Test the finished appearance
Allow a packed sample to recover according to its instructions, then assemble it with the actual cover. Compare fullness, edge definition and the ease of closing the zipper. Check whether the filling stays reasonably distributed during ordinary handling.
Record your preferred appearance with photographs and a physical reference sample. Terms such as plush or overfilled are subjective unless supported by a defined construction.
Order specification checklist
- Finished insert drawing and tolerances.
- Filling material and specified quantity or construction.
- Shell fabric and seam details.
- Matching decorative-cover reference.
- Care instructions for the insert separately from the cover.
- Packaging, recovery instructions and carton data.
Keep decorative use separate from medical or infant-use claims. A soft furnishing insert should not acquire another intended purpose merely through a change in packaging language.
Compare samples and prices together
Ask each supplier to quote the same construction and packing method. If an alternative fill is proposed, review it as a separate option. Keep sample charges, branding and freight assumptions visible so the final price comparison is meaningful.
Send Suneco Plus the cover measurements, desired appearance, quantity and destination. Include a cover sample or clear drawing where possible. A matched approval reduces the risk of receiving inserts that meet a nominal size but do not achieve the intended finished look.
