Home     /     Blog     /     Sourcing Kids Foam Sofas: Covers, Foam Recovery and Carton Size
By Mr.Sun

Sourcing kids foam sofas involves more than selecting a colour and piece count. A useful purchasing brief defines every component, the assembled layout, the cover construction and the way the set will be packed. This helps a buyer compare manufacturers on the same product rather than similar-looking photographs.

Create a component schedule

Give each base, support and accessory a label, dimension and quantity. Include the assembled couch size and the documented configurations to be shown in instructions. Clarify whether a folding cushion counts as one component or several in the advertised set.

Ask for the weight of larger pieces and check how the complete set is moved and stored. A design can look compact in a photograph while being awkward to handle in a typical home.

Approve the cover construction

Specify fabric composition, colour reference, seams, zipper placement and any handles. Inspect these features on a complete sample rather than a swatch alone. Confirm that the cover encloses the foam as intended and can be refitted after the permitted cleaning process.

Discuss replacement covers and how they will be identified. Small dimension changes between production versions can make an otherwise similar replacement unsuitable.

Test the proposed shipping pack

If the supplier proposes compression, request a sample packed using that exact method. Follow the supplied recovery instructions and record the condition and dimensions after the specified process. Inspect corners, folds, seams and the appearance of the foam.

Agree the acceptance criteria before production. A general promise that the sofa “returns to normal” is less useful than a defined measurement and inspection process. Ask how long the product may remain packed and what storage conditions apply.

Calculate carton implications

Record the number of cartons per set, outer dimensions and gross weight of each carton. A low unit price can be offset by a bulky pack or a split-carton arrangement that complicates fulfilment. Compare quotations using the same packaging brief and delivery term.

Check whether the retail label, assembly guide and care leaflet are included in the quote. Confirm how component counts will be checked before sealing the package.

Review instructions and evidence

  • Intended age group and use environment.
  • Approved low configurations and supervision guidance.
  • Cleaning, storage and inspection instructions.
  • Model-specific documents for the destination market.
  • Traceable product and batch identification.

For US children’s products, applicable testing and certification depend on the product and rules involved; review the official CPSC guidance with the responsible importer or qualified testing provider. Do not substitute a foam material claim for assessment of the complete product.

Approve a complete set

Approve the production specification, finished sample and packed sample together. Record any permitted changes and require review of substitutions. This keeps the physical product, listing photographs and customer instructions aligned throughout the order.

Provide Suneco Plus with the component diagram, quantity and destination when requesting a quote. Confirm available constructions and documents for the specific model before placing the order.
